According to GoDaddy.com, buying all available other domains (.biz, .net, .info, etc.) in addition to .com will increase website ranking.
Is this true?

No, it's not true. But it will make godaddy more money.

However if your site becomes wildly popular other people might purchase the other domains to try and get some of your traffic
