Default DMOZ Threads

WebProWorld encourages general discussion and advice on getting listed in the Open Directory. However, please don't post questions or complaints about your site's rejection.

If you suspect that an editor is abusing the directory or their position as editor, please use their official abuse reporting procedure found here. Neither specific accusations, nor generalized attacks on editors will be tolerated here.

While moderators and other forum members who are ODP/DMOZ editors might offer tips or answer questions about the inner workings of ODP/DMOZ, they may be prevented from answering some specific questions by ODP privacy rules.

Discussions about ODP/DMOZ tend to eventually decline into unproductive arguments where neither party will ever be convinced of the other's point of view. For this reason, threads may be locked when it appears they are headed in this direction.

Many many moons ago I posted about Dmoz and my thread got pulled, and on reflection and by memory it was alot tamer than the opening one in this thread. If I had to learn the hard way - then so must others.

The rules on Dmoz are as straightforard as this, and may I ask for a sticky on this one, as I and no doubt others are getting a little tired of repeat answers.

1 Ensure the content of your site is fresh, relevent and free of defects. Test it here www.SiteReportCard.com
2. Do not submit the site to Dmoz until you score at least 8.
3. After submission leave it alone, go to
www.resource-zone.com read the threads - join the forum, be polite, post with thoughts that others will not find offensive. Posting in the Dmoz forum is good for backlinks.
4. Do not slag off other forums in posts. Treat others as you would wish to be treated. David 2nd June 2005
