Default How long does it take for

I tried searching this in these forums but it may take me hours just to find it with this many threads..lol

I was hoping someone can answer me a simple question or get input on this. How long does it take for popular search engines like MSN and GOOGLE to list a web site in their directory?

I have AWSTATS and my new site www.defendingthetruth.com is spidered by Google and MSN daily. This site has been running for about 2 months but is not listed in Google yet. I tested this by typing site:defendingthetruth.com

My other sites are all listed in Google but they have been up for over a year. So is there some time limit where a site is listed only if it's been active for over 3 months? My site has been through a lot of SEO and the bots have been indexing it fine as more and more content are added daily.

They just won't index my site in there search engine??

Thanks for the help!

The short answer is that it can take less than a week if you have good backlinks, or several months if you don't. You need more back links! A tool like this will give you a clearer picture of where you're at:

Also, I would highly recommend making your titles dynamic - right now you ARE indexed by MSN Search, but every page has the exact same title. If you changed the title to something like "Defending The Truth :: Thread title", it would be more useful to users, and better for the search engines.

By the same token I'd shorten the meta description to maybe just "Online political forum." A longer description does not help you because it's repeated on every page in your site - you're better off having more of the unique content on the page displayed by the search engines.

Good luck with your site!

I think that you will be found, I recently joined a forum in the UK that has two posters, I made one post and it was in Google Backlinks. That forum has pretty bad SEO but it's still listed at number 2. Submit to Directories, and get your posters to make longer posts. Create a Google page, even if you don't use it much.

Wow i didn't really know that backlinks would really affect a web site being indexed. Well you learn something new everyday ;)

Hopefully there is a mod out there that can make backlinks for different sections of the board. Everything is indexed in the main directory.

As for content I think I have quite a bit! Right now we have close to 800 posts with each post being quite large. Hopefully someday I will notice hundreds of visitors to the site and find out Google has finally listed it in there index.

What do you think would be a good title name? I think you are right..may be too long.

I'm sorry I may have looked like a retard on this...By backlinks I am thinking of mysite.com/link mysite.com/link2/link....

So by backlink you mean other sites linking to my site? Popular sites that is?

Sorry...

I'm sorry I didn't make that more clear - I meant that I would suggest using your thread title as the page title. If you used something like "Defending The Truth :: Thread title" the first part could be static and the same for every page, but the second part could be dynamic and pulled from the actual page content.

So this page: http://www.defendingthetruth.com/viewtopic.php?t=30
would have this title: "Defending The Truth :: Hillary strongest democratic nomination 08"

It would really help you in the search engines and it would also help potential visitors know whether they wanted to click on your link or not.
