After many months of studying algorithms, decoding and maths.
I even had to deceipher the "Da vinci code" I finally found the Big Secret about "linking". Everybody knows that if your website handles a linking strategie only with related subject to your websites need to be links swapped with. Many times I read this gives better search engine results but where do they calculate this from ? Succesfull sells or interested clients ? Well here is the big secret: Related Links=targeted traffic Thats it!! Nothing more nothing less A link from a related website brings a potential client to yours. Regards F. unny |

I posted on another thread but there was this SEO guy who did a PR that talked about how his firm achieved #1 rankings and made it seem like it was a big successful deal.
The terms were actually very low-ranking, low-search terms, but also turned out to be quite expensive as PPC words. That would have been far more impressive. But as such, some SEO bloggers and other forums picked up on the shoddy PR and laughed it to scorn. It makes me wonder if the PR was posted on the site and was made available with direct link - if it would affect rankings? Folks want to say that there is "negative IBL" factor/filter/algo/whatever in place for Google which uses LSI to garner the quality of the links. But "miserable failure" proves that theory is miserably inadequate. I wonder if some SEOs are generating bad press or "shock news" to get others talking - bzz, bzz, bzz. I look at Paris Hilton as an example with the latest shock news on her. I did a search for 1-word "sidekick" on Google. Yep. 1 site already on the SERP for sidekick and related to Paris Hilton. So, is this another way Google is opening itself up for abuse? Before long, Google will be the tabloid King of the Internet. |

Outdoor Maniac,
Let me save some time. Things are changing in the SEO world. You may want to read this thread in it's entirety: http://www.webproworld.com/viewtopic.php?t=39790 Ken |

SEO- common sense ??,
What I ment that it doesnt matter if your website is at the top of search engine listing or somewhere at the end of the serps, if you have have trade links with websites related to yours, and when a visitor comes from that link he/she is always a targeted visitor, no matter your serps or ranking. its better to have 5 targeted visitors then 500 non targeted. Internet is nothing else then passing thru visitors from one site to another, keep the link partners related and there will be a steady flow of targeted visitors thru all sites who are linked. I also think that about 97% of the visitors who visit your website are there by accidental and are totally not interested in your products. With a good linking strategie it must be possible to get 10% interested visitors. regards Peter |

Link popularity has nothing to do with conversion or increased sales or results or whatever.
As I said in an earlier post, link popularity can be from blogs and other sources but not necessarily related or driving the traffic that you want. Again, Paris Hilton's example. How many are actually linking to her as an example of security risks in the Sidekick or Blackberry? How many are linking to her saying this poor girl. Now, how many are linking to her and related sites in order to see what the buzz is all about. There are plenty of links to Paris Hilton sites - how many of those links will drive paying traffic to see more Paris Hilton pics and videos? I think Outdoor Maniac and I agree in that traffic generated by just collecting links will mean 97% of the traffic aren't interested, but I dont think related links = targeted traffic. Related is too relative, and insisting on related links only is restrictive. It depends on how well you sell your site. |

Maybe I have to ask it differently,
How many real clients you have out of 1000 visitors ? lets say: 10 clients per 1000 visitors, with higher targeted traffic I think its possible to have 20 clients out of 1000. |

Where your links come from will have little or no affect on your search engine rankings, but the search terms you target will if you rank well. I agree that other things being equal links from a relevant site may bring more targeted visitors, but first they have to see those links, and if you are not ranking well they may never see them. |
