Default just can't get anywhere in the engines

Hi All-

For some reason, no matter what we seem to try with our website, we can't get better than the second page in Google. We've run the pages through WPG Page Critic and everything is ok, but still nothing. Our other sites do well, just this one. The site is www.lifeworks-international.com. We usually look under things like "teen community service summer programs" or something like that. Our other sites are www.seamester.com and www.actionquest.com. Does anyone have any idea what we can do to help ourselves get a better ranking?

Thanks,
Greg[/url]

From doing some quick checks, you have more saturation, and more links pointing to your site than the #1 competitor for the keyword phrase "teen community service summer programs".

Part of that may be because you don't have that term listed on your home page (I haven't looked at any of the interior pages), or in your meta description or title.

A search engine can't rank you on something that doesn't exist on your page or site!

Add that phrase into the body of your page, maybe even place it in your title.

That would be a place to get started.

Also, do you have many inbound links? Per the Google Tool Bar (which does not pick up all inbound links) they show none. Google likes inbound links and anchor text. You do have your keyword phrase both as H1 and anchor text which is good, but i don't see any other anchor text on the page. Couldn't hurt to throw in a couple alt tags also.

If you are using such long search phrases, then you have to go for the misspellings as well. My top spelling mistake at the moment is "czrbon monoxide". I get a steady trickle of traffic from it.
