Hi, yes you are right there has been alot of discussion on WebProGold, save your money, go into the SEO Forum and read all the threads, think 'Directories' and forget paid submission software.

Hunter - I've moved your post from the Break Room into Search Engine Discussion. I think you'll find the concensus here is in favour of "hand submission" rather than automated SE submission software.

As ctabuk says, "think directories"... a few well-placed listings in high-ranking directories will be worth a lot more than multiple entries in smaller SE indexes.

I second that motion. Go for the small directories as well, especially the regional ones. They are often worth a lot more than you think and who know's? They may well be big one day.

I would have to agree that directories and self tweaking is better than using a product like position gold.

If you have absolutely zero intention to learn a small bit and do the stuff manually, then using WPG3 may be right for you. Just know that the submission softwares are a thing of the 90's. They hardly work anymore.

So with that, I would say if you are able to invest a tiny bit of time into some reading, then make the minor small changes and you will easily get ranked. You can learn all you need by reading the forums. Get into a few directories and you will get spidered asap!

I would rather see the money spend on targetted traffic with google adwords or overture and do the website tweaking yourself.

Your site will get ranked!

You want to decide what you wish to be ranked for as well, then work on that. Check out a few alternates, since some of the most obvious keywords or phrases will be hard to get.

You already have a good starting batch of links, so keep working on it.

Hunter Vaughan -
WP3 is useless for submissions, but if you need to report rankings for clients or want to see how your site is doing, it is a nice piece of automated software that will eliminate hours of tedious work.

Default web position

Thanks to all for the info regarding Web Gold..
...applied to DMOZ 8 months ago, no listing yet...unfortunately I dont recall what catagory I listed in ( I make a lot of different items so I fit in more than 1 catagory)...now not sure which editor to contact or to relist or what??... I hear/read they dont like people who try to list repeatedly or even more than once...
yes this time I'll keep better track of listing info but was even more of a "rookie" at that point than I am now...any advice for this bumbling webmaster(?)to somehow redeem himself to the DMOZ higher powers?
...again thanks for the info and energy provided...Hunter

Default DMOZ submission status

To check the submission status you can try the Resource Zone forum. The forum is moderated by DMOZ editors, and you can usually get a response as to the status of your submission.

Alternatively, if you just wish to monitor a few websites, a service such as www.seotie.com will automatically alert you via email when your site is listed. All depends on how proactive you want to be! :o)

The fastest way I've been able to get a site listed is to submit your site in the state/metro category.

Also, make sure the category you want your site to be listed in has an editor. If your specific category doesn't have one, go up one level (or until you find a category that has an editor).

After that, submit it and forget about Dmoz.

Greetings, a little known fact about WPG is that it 'cloaks', it pretends to be an individuals browser. Also I hear people say that it is great for getting your SE page results as you can download overnight, that's way too long. IBP (Internet Business Promoter) does this in minutes and does not cloak, also as it is part of ARLIS it has credibility. Google has actually printed that it does not like WPG, it is in another thread somewhere on WPW

Hi there,

It's true that Google doesn't like it. Read this article. It will revile you what ranking software can do for you: bad things or good things.

Great links Paul,

Don't know where I have been but, haven't seen those before. Still having problems getting the huntandhunt site listed, been over a year now since first submission, 3 months this time, never been rejected, it's just a black hole!

I'll definitely post in the "RZ".

Thanks,
Ken
