Default Altavista - where did it go?

I held #1 rankings for 'Canadian Clothing' in Altavista for at least a year. Today I did a search and my site didn't even show up! I checked it a few days ago, with no problems. I had over 10 sub sites listed before. I ran a search using 'url:http://www.canadianclothing.ca' and the result was '0' sites. I couldn't believe it. Has anyone completely disappeared from Altavsita before? And if so, how the heck do you get back to where you were?

p.s. I am still fine in MSN,hotbot,Lycos,Ask Jeeves (Inktomi)

Appreciate any help,
Thanks,
Grease

That's very strange... I know some sites eventually die out of engines, but I've never heard of them all of a sudden disappearing!

I thought AltaVista was dead, actually, until last week when the bot showed up and went nuts spidering two of my sites.

The search results for AltaVista are pretty weak, though - I don't know why you disappeared, Grease, but I'm not sure that you should be all that worried about it. Who actually uses AltaVista these days to find anything?

Default Alta Vista

Yahoo should promote Alta Vista, AlltheWeb and the Overture engine as separate brands instead of folding them up into YahooSearch.

Why they don't do this make no sense to me.

Maybe they need some new marketing folks at Yahoo that can see value in the brands and build that value.

I liked AlltheWeb a lot. They had some good results and seemed posed to go far with their search results. I haven't done much with AV since 2002.
