Default Is there a tool to track down "lost" inbound links

I have noticed a drop in my inbound links and unfortunately have no logs of what was linked to the site before ....

My main concern is a heavy drop of the relevant, top-rated keyword results; the number of missing links is about 10 -12

How can I find what is missing?

Any comments or suggestions - welcome...

Thank you in advance,

^D

How do you know you have lost them if you have no records of what they were before?

Simon, I think he is doing a simple "links to" and those numbers change daily. Two things to do
install www.marketleap.com then download www.statcounter.com
All the tools you need for day to day running, but keep reading the threads. Spend one Hour reading, then 1 minute submitting questions, and you will never regret it. Good luck

ctabuk, - you might be right - I mainly use www.prsearch.net for tracking backlinks - sfowler-the rest is up to photo-memory-log; unfortunatelly it worked for the total # of links only...;)

It strange that the top, top ratings appeared for almost all the desired keywords for about a week and then dissapeared... I'm thinking the lost links is the answ; now need to track them down somehow...

Will look at installation suggestions closer.

Thxx,
^D

Don't spend too much of your time searching for lost links....

Inbound links must be gained on an ongoing basis as older links will depreciate as time goes by....

You may want to try a link manager to make sure people continue to link with you. Try looking into http://www.reciprocalmanager.com .

Also, http://www.seotie.com might be of some help to you.

Thanks, I think you will be changing over later today! But this is what this forum is all about, trying different things, someone else may have something better than the ones I suggested, I hope you enjoy them.

Many thanks, but No - I would not suggest using them, you could end up anywhere, with no control. Now none of us (and I ask the Mods for help here)can actually control who we link to, we can find a really good Directory and we can submit into a category, and someone else can follow suit and 'cross link' theoretically they could have a bad link to them. Supposing they had a 'pop up gaming link' deep in their linkage? The only 'pay for'system I have ever used was www.gotop.com it cost me $30.00 and they send me links to check out, and I follow them as far back as I can. I have also found that if you search 'Your Subject Forums'and have a good look around first before joining you can find thousands of lists of Directories. Submit by category, if the ask for reciprocal links, great, but put them on a links page, with no more than 15 to 25 per page. At the end of the day, it is your site, it's your 'baby' why risk it for what you think is a quick solution?
