Default Critical Situation - Please Advise

My Site Massageking is ranked #3 for keyword "massage tables" on google and #1 on yahoo.

I am trying to rank #1 on google

My sites title is "MassageKing - Portable Massage Tables amd Massage Supplies" I want to change it to "Portable Massage Tables amd Massage Supplies - MassageKing"

----------------------------------

My question: If i make a change to the title and drop in ranking, can i undo my changes to regain my exact rank(assuming the other sites stay constant)?

IMO there is NO guarantee you'll be able to revert to where you were if it doesn't work out.

To be honest, at your stage I'd be tempted to leave the on-page stuff alone, and just work on the links/anchor text for G.

If you're at #3 on Google and #1 on Yahoo, don't change a thing! Just keep getting more links and be happy you're in the top 5 on both search engines.

To answer your question, yes - I have changed my title to test alternate possibilities and found it to be easily changed back...

Although this last post is right - Your in the top 5 in both engines - so your really in good shape...

In NO WAY am i complaining about my rankings rlrouse. We are very fortunate to rank so well in both search engines, but i would still like to pass up our compeditors in google.

So Clasione, from your SEO experiences, what effect do you think changing our title from:

MassageKing - Portable Massage Tables amd Massage Supplies

To: Portable Massage Tables and Massage Supplies - MassageKing

Then do not change your site's title. Work on getting more on-topic links from authority sites.

In your case, the changing of your title tag is not advised. Leave it as-is and concentrate on getting more links.

Derek,

Get some good incoming links from some of the top directories. I have done this on several occasions to 'oust' my clients site to a #1 position.

A good place to start http://www.strongestlinks.com/directories.php

P.S. Pay the money to get listed

Do you really recommend paying money to get listed in directories? I have a list of over 150 Directories that i have submitted my site to and now i am consentrating on ancored backlinks. What has been your experience w/ it?

The only downside of building my ancored backlinks is that my competition has 256 backlinks compared to my mere 75. This is why i ask about changing my title.

If you do recomment "Pay" directories, can you send me a list of ones you would recommend.

The Power of Anchor Text !! Moved up from 3 to 2 today for massage tables and massage table. I changed the title to read "Portable Massage Tables and Massage Supplies" and currently waiting for the next cache. I'll post my results-

Yes, if it's a good directory and the backlinks show up for other people's sites then it may be worth paying to get in.

Don't change your title tag, it won't have much of an effect (if any) on your rankings. Get links.

Thanks- I will invest my next site into these directories. Guess when you look at it, its a small price to pay for a large profit in the end.

One question about these directories... Are they ONE time fees, yearly fees, or mixed between the both?

It's a mixture. If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you'll see a guide to the "red" prices and "red" directories and so on and so forth.

Good luck! :)
