Popular European Search Engines?

Hi, I would be interested in doing some Internet marketing in Europe, mostly EU countries. I know there are thousands European search engines, can find lists anywhere. What I want actually to know is which are the MOST popular search engines, the ones people use. I don't want to register in 100 Italian search engines and they bring me total 5 visitors per year. I want engines which are the same for europeans, as Yahoo, Google and MSN are for americans.
I guess they will be different for each country - that's fine, I would be happy in knowing the popular ones for different countries too.
I suppose yahoo.de, yahoo.it, etc. work. I also think wannadoo and voila work for france, etc.
That's what I need to know - what Germans, Italians, Frenchs, Spanians, etc. use to search.

I guess the guys living in those countries will know best. Thanks.
