Default All for one and two for none

Hello colleagues :)

Ok, I have a situation with three kings, Google, Yahoo and Ask, and I hope you can give us a glance to a method which can help us (our company) resolve this case.

Our rankings in Google are really good, in fact, alot better than what we have expected, but for some unkown reason, our site does not appear in Yahoo nor Ask.

Our main keyphrase is "Debt Consolidation", but a variant to it is "Debt Consolidation California", and there we appear in 3rd and 4th places (look for www.curadebt.com -- I´m not trying to spam :)).

Now, on Yahoo we come up in place 155 and in Ask we cannot find our link.

So, my question is: What do we need to do in our pages (HTML or content) to come up in Yahoo's and Aks' results?

Thank you very much for your help.

Add more optimized content (minimum 300 words) and more pages. Add meta description and keywords tag. And more ...

Well, our pages have all the META tags implemented, but the ammount of words goes up to 150 to 165 words.

Ok, I´ll do that.

But here comes another question: won´t this impact my rankings in Google?

As for what I understand, Google likes shorter pages.

Thnx.

You are appearing high in Yahoo. Search under "debt settlement" minus the quotes. That is the term you have included in the Home page's title. So, I would say you have the major bases covered.

Default google v everybody else

Google rankings are a lot more dependent on outside links. I have found from alexa that I had 398 sites linking in some way to one of my managed sites - and using google alerts I have found that a lot of these were small search engines that build a permanent page from theresult of a search. Yahoo results are based more on the actual content - and I suspect that ask and MSN will likely be there too (my search.MSN.com ratings are actually higher than the others). I should note that this site is in the top five (usually 2 or 3) for all of the search engines for most of the keywords we used.

Some times all it takes to get better rankings with Yahoo and other SE's after you have risen in Google is time.

As long as your meta content supports your written content and your 'keyword' satuaration does't borderline spamming you will rise in rankings. You should have no less than 500 words(index) with embedded keywords connecting other pages with supporting material which in turn are also crossed linked. Yahoo and other search engines often only update there index about every 2 to 4 months, while Google may do it every month. In the end seo is a science that is constantly evolving, so learn to tweak, but also take a step back for a while and see what happens.

Ok guys, thank you very much for your valuable help.

So, conclusions are:

1. For Yahoo, Ask and probably MSN too, pages with more than 300-500 words are best.

2. Yahoo may take two to four months to reindex.

3. Use your META (Description and Keywords) tags for Yahoo, Ask and MSN.

4. Try to use crosslinks between your pages.

5. Google indexes about every month *

--

* You know what? I thing Google indexes even more frequently, because we have been monitoring other sites we have, and in one week we have seen a site move between 5th and 7th place several times.

... or what do you think causes this fluctuations?

Thnx.
