Hello,
I not sure but first of all you need to check your html. I found you had at your title meta tag at least 3 times. You should only have 1. With numbers in front of it. I would start there.

I haven't checked your site or code, but I'll share my general rule of thumb, imho. The shorter and denser the title is, the better. If a page is about chairs, and you want to target the keyword "chairs", title it "chairs" or "Chairs - ABC Inc." One keyword or phrase per title, giving it the highest percentage of weight in the title.

I think your intuition is right. Great titles are now a must since everyone is relying on them so heavily to discern a page's content and importance.

The approach I'll be using when I refresh my site's titles later this month will be a blend of these best practices:

- customized for each page and its content
- dynamically generated to capture some efficiencies in creation and maintenence
- free of generalities and platitudes (e.g. "Welcome to Our Site, ABC_Widgets.com")
- built around 1-3 key words specific to the page, not a bunch common to the overall site
- front-loaded with the keyword(s) as the first words in the title
- mentioning my website name (DVDsPlusMore) last in the title, if at all. I'm inclined to include my website name since it happens to have a critical keyword embedded within it, but many seem to be dropping it altogether. Then again, Amazon and Buy still lead with their names ... so perhaps this is still an unresolved issue. I like the way a site bookmarks if it has the title first.

Helpful? Would anyone add to this list?

Best,

James @ DVDsPlusMore
