Firstly may I once more thank everyone who contributes to this forum.

We all want to make money from our websites, some of you spend a fortune on PPC and hope that you don't get spammed.

This year we spent the grand total of £3,000 in PPC and generated £55 million in mortgages, not bad for a firm with just 5 people. OK we get alot of referals, because we do a good job. But lets look at the Internet selling and I hope it helps you.

We have found the biggest thing that we do is our News Update pages. I installed a Google Tool Bar and took the Google Alerts option on my keywords. These come everyday from Newspapers and the Media, so whenever I see a reply to subject option I take it, and I submit my URL, if they print it - it is free advertising.

it works! No, do not go to the 'submit your site to the top 1,000 SE's'that won't work in a million years. Do try some obscure one's - Vivisimo -Clusty -Snap, Mamma the brilliant www.windseek.com wwwA9.com WHY? because in time the Googles of this world search them, and if you keep updating your pages it will pick up the theme and increase your PR. Don't be put of if you have a PR1,2,3 or 4 as they are based on % units - so a page 3 can really be a 3.99% page and by working on your PR you can soon get the extra 1%. Also look at IceRocket and www.Ixquick.com The reason I happen to mention this is because ixquick feeds from Teoma & Ask, now I hear what the experts say, 'don't submit, the spiders will find you' Well how come Ask is using my megatag description that are a year out of date but still have my site at number one?

Work on your Companies initials, get them listed - WHY? Ok you are selling Baseball Bats, and you put an ad in your local paper, or Nationals, you are paying for the size of the advert text Yes or No?

If you simply put 'Need a New Baseball Bat? Search ABCD on any search engine' you have a cheap ad, with the same results! 3 years ago if you searched CTAB all you would find would be a Canadian Chemical Lab, now you will find us number 1 world wide, because I submitted that keyword to the SE's
Copernic Desktop - Get One

Spend a whole week searching websites worldwide that are in your trade or profession. Use a SE indigenous to that country and search "links to" "www.theirsite"
and follow each link and submit your site, if it is reciprocal create a links page on your site and use it. I don't believe in too many reciprocal links, so I keep it to a minimum, but I would welcome comments on this.

I cannot stress the need for constant updating, yesterday Friday 29th October BBC Radio Norfolk found our website and were doing a Questions and Answers chat live on air, they chose us and my wife did the interview. Last night I put that fact on our website, we had 13 new enquiries in overnight!. Google will find it and with luck that will boost our PR.

LOGO's on your site, if you belong to a recognised trade body, especially one with a good PR, get permission to put the logo on your site.
