Site hosting technical issues

I have a touchy issue with a site that I currently manage on our local server. The corporate office wants to take it over and manage it themselves. We would really like to keep it local for to control the quality of the contact people get from the site. We have sunk a lot of time and money into the developement as well.

Are there any technical issues that I can give to the corporate guys regarding SEO, ranking etc. that favor leaving the site local and in our control?

Any help would be appreaciated.

Where the actual web server sits technically isn't an issue. However, if you need to have access to the server to reboot it or to do critical updates when necessary that's another story.
