I was wondering how these search engines index pages in their database.
About a year ago I used a link name of htmlindex4.html for one of my pages and a couple of months later deleted that file altogether and renamed it to some different. Now the search engines are still updating the Title info and page information on the SE rankings. Here is an example: http://search.yahoo.com/search?fr=fp...se+development You will see that the second listing still has an extension of htmlindex4.html. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining since I am listed twice. I just wanted to know why this is happening and is it a valid form of spamming the SEs? I didn't do it intentionally! Lets say I just make up 500 web pages with slightly different keywords and content so it is not considered spamming and have it indexed by the SEs bots and then delete the given sites. All URLs that are not recognized by my hosting providers automatically are redirected to my home page. An example I have seen on this is the site www.amerifocus.com which held the top 10 SERP's for "website design" and multiple others for the longest time until Google banned the site. He must have made a good little sum of money in the given amount of time he was ranked high. What if I just change my website names every 6 months due to personal preference. I mean that can't be considered spam? I have the freedom to name my webpages whatever I want.
