Default Keyword relevancy

Hello,
I was checking my new website with a "meta tag analyzer" (free tool online) and everything is fine but my keyword relevancy, this is the message I get: "Keyword relevancy to page content is terrible. The keywords relevancy to page content is 40%."

My question is, how important is the Keyword Meta Tag? I mean, does Google compare the search term with my web content or with my keyword meta tag?

I have 10-12 keywords in my meta tag but my website was written to match 4 (one in each page).

I don't know if my question is clear but at least if someone could tell me if Google is going to check my keyword meta tag and exactly how could that affect my rankings.

Thanks,
Daniel

Welcome to WPW...

The keyword meta tag is largely irrelevant, especilly in Google. Others may place miniscule importance on it.

I still include it, but only have a couple of words in it to match the page title and the main keyword that the page (NOT site) is targeting. I am sure its not dong a lot of good, but it does no harm.
