Can Keyword Tools (ie: WordTracker) Be Misled?
If programs like WordTracker use data from search engines (which has always seemed ideal), how much of a stretch is it to assume results can be misleading based on a large number of illegitimate searches?
By 'illegitimate', I mean the opposite of true searches by those who are actually looking for something.
As the tool becomes known, it seems like results could be misled either intentionally by someone capable of stuffing the SE's (to confuse competitors), or by every site owner using the SE's just to check their own placements in SERPs.
This isn't just Wordtracker, but other similar programs, as well as pay-per-click programs that offer this type of information.
(For returning readers I cut this post down in size. I also did a study on this which is too lengthy to post here)
