I saw a series of posts a while back that talked about the power of using keywords in your URL. I am not trying to refuel those discussions but wondering if changing to a scheme like that would temporarily lower page rank and position on the search engines or if the rank would stick with the renamed page. Thanks in advance for any input.

Whenever you change a URL, you loose the links to that URL (unless you change them as well). As PR is purley a mathematical function of incoming links, you will loose the PR (unless all the links to the page are changed as well). If you change all the links from the old page to the new page, then your PR should remain the same.
IMHO, its just not worth the effort of changing URLs over to keyword URLS's for the very minimal, if any gain you might get. CBP |
