what is this person doing???
Hello to all,
I got this person that wants to link with me and it makes me very very nervous. I have an alexa tool bar and it says that this site is Yahoo #1 please look and tell me what the heck. Am I seeing things or should I stay fare away from this place. http://www.shop.store.yahoo.com/boot...atherlingerie/
Thank you in advance.

No problemo. The Alexa ranking is that of Yahoo's.

How about google page rank?
I saw that the site does not have a page rank on Google. What good is it linking to it? Will it help with Yahoo only?

If its of use to the visitor, then what is the problem with linking?

Thank you CBP, I agree about the NO PR I was worried about the alexa rank it said it was yahoo #1 and I thought they were trying to pull a fast one. So I guess all is good so I will link with them. Thanks again!

Don't ALL inbound links help? The PR could change on the next update. Also, it may bring in extra traffic.

I,ve often thought about this, do you think the fact that it's on yahoo's servers or at least appears to be connected to their alexa rating/page rank/back links and traffic will benefit more to those linked to the subsite than if the site was just a stand alone site with little page rank and no connection to their high traffic hosts?
I have noticed lots of small sites like this on aol-hometown etc, which have a high alexa rating due to their host. I was thinking of offering a reciprocal link to these sites, would I get the benefit of their hosting sites PR & back links.
ie Will these links to my site count as a vote/link from the relevant host ie yahoo, aol etc??
I might carry out a little experiment and offer a few links solely to sites like this and see what effect it has on Alexa ranking,PR and position of my site on google etc.
Any views from anyone who has previous experience on this matter would be much appreciated.
Best Regards
Peter

Not going to happen. PR is based on a page by page basis, not on sites or host sites.

Thanks for reply,
On that basis, If reciprocal links to my site were from a links page like www.domainname/linkspage.htm,an unimportant, irrelevant or even newly posted page which has no pr or with low pr in comparison to its main domain/home page and has only one link to it from its own main site I would not not get any benefit of the pr of main site here? even if the main domain had an excellent PR and loads of backlinks.
Are you aware of anyone who has tested the theory?
Best Regards
Peter

Yes, that is correct, you will only get the PR from the page your link is on, not any other page.
