Yet another link question

Excuse my denseness but---- I'm still trying to see the big picture here. As I was checking backlinks on my wife's site, I noticed that what few she has are all linked with her home page. All other pages on her site have only the one link back to the home page.

My question is--would it be beneficial in PR when exchanging links to exchange using various pages within her site, opposed to always listing her home page in the exchange?

She just recieved a request to exchange links for placement on a particular page with equal placement of her link. This is the first time she has placed a link to another site on a page, other than our favorites page.

I'm not a pro, but I looked at your favorites page and you have a PR of 4 just as you do on your home page? Is this link offer asking you to put their link on you home page? They may be asking because they see you have advertising on your home page too.
