I was offered a paid for link service which seems to use RSS to feed links on to pages. I was wondering if there were any problems with links fed like this and if Google liked them?

I would also like to know if anyone had a reputable company where you could buy links from?

More generally, are paid for links any good?

Yes that's right, I have about same experience, the dir (free)give the link some time after 4-5 months and maximum dir didn't give any link yet, I think reciprocal link (relevant) still some value and article and press release is good for linking, and make link in social bookmark site like digg.com etc, forum signature is good for one way.
