Wild Google Page Rankings

Over the last to 4-6 weeks I have watched my Google Page ranking shown on their toolbar go from six to not listed at all, to five, then three, then four, then five, then back to four, and now back to five.

This makes no sense in light of the fact during this time I have been adding fresh content, I have gone from about 150 relevant incoming linked sites to over 800, and my statistics are all up in every category. Visitors - repeat and unique, page views, etc.

At the same time I somehow lost forty reciprocal links from Google when using my Link Popularity Check from Axandra, It has stayed at 38 during this whole time compared to 78 at the beginning of all this.

I cannot figure out what is gong on. None of this makes sense.
