Only some of them are worth to submit as I found out - Submit to Internet Directories ? waste of time? Veiko Herne ? lifetime entrepreneur with adventurous soul

People who have directories that are actually worth something maybe? I suppose that would be crap to someone who only has spam directories and can not even pay his hosting bills. I wouldn't know, it is not my website. The lists are solid tho, and the fact they have precreated digixmas lists means half my work is done with their lists.

is directory submission still alive? everyone debating against submitting to free directories. Any assurance that these directories are a helpful sought for acquiring organic seo results? But may be this is another idea in regards to directory submission Directory Submission & SEO ?

When I put www.toppicturedating.com online, I never though that I could get it to such kind of competitive market like Online Dating with SEO. And I used it to test directories out. Submitted to few hundred of them and got some 40 free backlinks. Wrote an article about it. Suddenly, after 3-4 months Google had assigned my new site a PR3 and I was in first page position on every targeted keyword having decent amount of traffic with 27% new member sign up rate. But because new members make new pages and Google loves fresh content, I lost my positions on those keywords after some months.
Now I'm running a dircetory myself.
