Default Search engines indexing certain

G'day to everyone,

Trying to promote a website, you'd want the majority of people being directed to the homepage.
Why is it that my terms and conditions page ranks higher on certain engines than my index page?

Thnx

You probably have made your terms and conditions page more relevant to the keyword. In that case, work on you main page SEO some more.

Other possible reason are backlinks. Someone might have linked your terms and conditions page with some relevant anchor to your searched keyword and now it ranks batter then your main page.

In that case you should delete your old T&C page, set a 301 redirect to your homepage and create a new one with different url.

Consider no-follow links to your terms... Most likely your internal link structure promotes your terms page more than your home page. If you are unsure how link juice flows in your website, you can always check with A1 Website analyzer.
