Yellow pages, how advanced are they in other countries.

Today I got a phonecall from my dentist. I did not reckognize the phone number, so I looked it up on Norwegian Yellow Pages (Gule Sider), folder "Telefonkatalogen".

To my surprise I got contextual Ad, ad from other dentists.

We are working on the optimizations of two Yellow Pages sites. One of them is in Venezuela and the other one is in Spain. The secret is making all the content of the database crawlable by search engines. That means millions of potential pages that you have to feed the SEs.

So the complete database is published on the web? An argument for an XML driven CMS system? Google is the only SE I know of that indexes XML files in an intelligent way.
