Default In Yahoo but not in Altavista

Hi,

My site is listed in yahoo... search DVD MEDIA and we are No.1 in Yahoo.

However if you go to Altavista and do the same search DVD MEDIA we are not in their directory at all (I have used SEO Elite and we arent listed not even on page 1000+) so seeing as Altavista is POWERED by Yahoo - how can we not be listed???

I did two searches, one in Altavista and one in Yahoo:

AltaVista Search: dvd media and dvd media - Yahoo! Search Results

The results between the two searches were identical, not taking into account the ads. Were you doing a regional search? It seems that Altavista may pull regional results differently.

Well this is one issue I have definately suffered from.

My site is a .COM but we are in the UK and there have been times in my logs when 60% plus of my traffic has been USA - then there was the time last year, I forget exactly when but some clever bod at one search engine decided that all .COM's are in the USA so we were dropped from the UK listings!

I have been using SEO Elite to track my keywords and positions.

Default Re: In Yahoo but not in Altavista

may i ask if that can be a possibility since Altavista is powered by Yahoo so it is expected to be of the same results as of Yahoo
