Default Gigablast archiving webpage I made back in 1969

I always check where people who visit my website come from. I monitor what's working and what's not and change accordingly.

This url has me a little baffled.

Where did "This page was last modified on Dec 31, 1969" come from?

Probably the PC time of the file when modified. For instance using:

javascript:alert(document.lastModified)

in the address bar tells you when the document was last modified (sort of).

The creation of the world began in January 01, 1970, at least according to Unix time, also called "Epoch".
When dealing with time some engines get confused (the same happened to Google, some time ago) and return the "day before" or Dec. 31, 1969.

Without knowing algo's it is difficult to say what caused this.

This is what happens when you pass an invalid timestamp to a function that is supposed to turn a timestamp into a user-friendly date. I see this all the time when a dynamic web page uses the "date" function with an invalid UNIX timestamp. A timestamp is simply the number of seconds that has elapsed since the "UNIX epoch" or, January 1st, 1970.
