Single Keyword Target I am ranked really well for all my keywords except 1 and I am #7 for that word. Would it be easier to get to #1 with a domain that is only 6 months old that I own that is FOCUSED on the keyword OR would it be easier to get to #1 with my current domain where I am #7 for that keyword.

AJAX Dialogs I am developing a complex AJAX application that requires me to pop up dialogs for user interaction from time to time. At present, I'm building those dialogs using PHP to generate the HTML and displaying them in a <div> overlaid on top of the main screen.

Css And Validation WC3 Pages For SEO What are your thoughts on the importance of having valid html pages in the search engines? Currently I have lots of first page positions for my chosen keywords in google but very little of my site will validate in WC3 checking with many errors... this is the case also for alot of my competitors.

To Blank Or To New, That Is The Question I have a simple (hopefully) question here. I have a website that is a directory of listings and links to businesses in my town. On my outbound links, I use the target="_new" attribute to open the link in a new window. On some postings, I see that people suggest using the target="_blank" over the other. What is the reason for this and does it really matter?

First Press Release Ever - Need Feedback I am ashamed to say that I have never done a press release for a client! But, that is about to change. The company that I've recently started working for produce a lot of off-line press releases for our clients. All of these will now be forwarded to me to send out to the online press.

All Websites On One Server Or Across Multiple? If my client owned a car cleaning business and had a primary website of cleanmycar.com and he wanted to create other websites (instead of creating sub domains or normal folders) such as...

Looking At Other Areas Than SEO I work with a company that is relatively new to the internet (just over a year) and was hired on to facilitate their expansion. In the course of this year, we've built over 170 different sites for this company. We've gotten really good SEO results, and have managed to get top ten placement on literally thousands of keywords that actually matter (and several, of course, that never get searched).

Gone From Google Please help me to sort out my problem. We have a company website for selling properties in Bulgaria with 3 domain names: Bulgarian properties for sale, Buy property in Bulgaria, and Property in Bulgaria. When we started optimising with inbound links, we registered .bg domain everywhere, but as a result, .com domain started going up in G.

Where Do I Go From Here? For the few years that ive been into the SEO game i have never really done much "work" for myself or created my own site/online profile (there's the hip hop one in my signature - but that's a mess that isnt doing my skills any justice). All the work I do or online interaction I'm involved in has benefited the company or the clients I'm currently work for.

DWT Files - Compatible Between Expression And Dreamweaver? I am about to start on a site that will have a fair number of pages. I generally work in Expression web (and often use master pages). However, once I'm finished with this site, the customer plans to do his own maintenance in an older version of Dreamweaver. I know both programs use DWT files as templates. I'm wondering if that will work.

Linking Best Practices Can I please get some current advice on linking: Are inbound links still important? Do I still link out to quality sites that don't link back or should I delete their links? Do I use any "no follow" rules on outbound links? Will having target = _blank on outbound links be regarded as bad by google?

Has Our Webmaster Done Something Dodgy? Our webmaster made our .asp urls into SEO friendly urls. They seemed fine at first but now Ive noticed that in Google Results when I click on a link it goes to an error page. Can anyone see any problems as to why if you click the link in google it goes to an error page?

Parking Versus Forwarding I have a bunch of domains, is it better to park these domains onto the primary, or is it better to set a forwarder (301 Redirect) to the primary? What's the difference in terms of SEO?

Moving eCommerce Site To New Cart My partner and I own and run 888knivesrus.com. The cart is a softcart by Zoovy.com who a few years ago switched to a success fee based pay structure and as such our monthly fees are in excess of $800. We have found a company to move and host our site with a customized cart but are worried about getting hurt by a drop in sales.

Moving my Home Base I own a couple web sites that are doing fairly well. However they cannot sustain a living for me at this time. My regular job requires that I relocate every 3 months. How should I handle this? Should I always change my contact and about info on my sites?

Local Listings I am in Google Local listings and very happy with this. My question is, how on earth do you get into the local listings for MSN and Yahoo? I found a page that allows you to submit to MSN local - but it only seems to work for sites in the USA.

Google.com And Google.ca I recently relocated from the US to Canada so my default Google search is now google.ca instead of google.com. Will this affect my SEO efforts as I check current rankings of my US-based clients in the Canadian flavor of Google?

SEO Experts Needed To Clear This Out Imagine there are two pages on two different sites. Page A on a high SEO value site that has let's say position 1 in Google for <some keyword>. Page B, on a quite fresh site, but it is linked from page A with the same <some keyword> in the anchor text.

Directory's vs Blogging Used to be the big talk was on getting your websites listed in directory's for the inbound links. I looked at it as not only inbound linking, but from a relevant source if your link is placed in the right category within the directory.

Worth Changing Home Directory? I'm a web designer by trade but have been looking into SEO and have a question for you all... My client has an osCommerce website which currently resides in a subdirectory - domain.com/catalog. Hitting domain.com performs a redirect to domain.com/catalog. Google currently has 193 pages (pretty much all of them) indexed from the site.
