Contract Conflict! Now What? I've got a contract negotiation issue and would love your advice. Our company's standard web development contract states that the client maintains rights to the text and content and we maintain the copyright of the design. This is for two reasons. 1.) The client doesn't normally have the legal or financial resources to handle a copyright battle.

How Do You Handle Mobile Traffic? How do you detect/respond to traffic from handheld browsers (cell phones, PDAs, etc.) on your site? I am starting to develop a mobile version of my main site, and I am curious what methods people are using, and what issues you may have encountered with different approaches.

Multiple Domains Pointing To Same Site I am doing web promotion work for my client's website. They have bought 2 additional domain name related to their site. Now I am pointing those additional domain names also to the main site. When we load any of the domain aliases the site doesnt get redirected but loads as if that is the actual url.

'Newbie' Error I wish I could actually just chalk it up to that. But, until reading a post somewhere (and I don't remember where), I didn't know I could change the default URL in Wordpress. Duh!

How Would You Handle a Copyright Complaint? There's one issue that is shared among many websites, from video-sharing communities, to short-story outlets and article distribution sites. That is the dreaded issue of copyright infringement. It deals with what to do when someone claims that their (or someone else's) copyright has been treaded upon, and whether or not the complaint has any merit -- or an attempt at arbitrary censorship.

Combat Spam Thank you to everyone who answered my questions on my other post, the answers were excellent although some of them a bit beyond me to impliment. Having thought about form and comment spam in a different way over the past few days I have come up with some ways to try and combat this.

With Google No Longer Liking Directories, Where Do I Get PR? Over the years I've built up a strong list of web directories. Every time I launched a new site, I'd submit to all of them, usually giving my site a PR 4 or 5 a few months later (plus a few links from my current sites). Now google seems to hate directories and link exchange pages. I've seen almost all my sites drop from PR5 to PR4 or 3.

Wrong Domain Being Indexed When we originally started up our new company, we used the company name as the domain. However, we decided that it was too long and instead used something shorter. Then, we decided that was no good and finally settled on a domain for the long term. This was all in about a month's time.

Where To 'Place' The SEO Profession? I'm an IT student on a work placement, my managers are having me do research on SEO. Having no prior knowledge on the subject I started surfing the web and scouring forums, and so came to start an account here. I've been following threads in this forum for three weeks and learned a lot in the process, you've really got me hooked on the subject now! Why I started this thread is because I have some trouble 'placing the profession'.

Moving To New Server I currently have a managed service on a box that is now just over 3 years old. We are ready to move to a new server and it is all scheduled to happen over the next month and a half. There are currently 33 websites hosted on my box, we have decided to virtulise the new machine and separate the three main websites into their own areas and allocate resources appropiately - obviously the new server is far higher spec than the one we are moving from.

Google Advertising Professionals Program Worth It? I am currently looking into the Google Advertising Professionals program. I understand the details of the program. The main points being the 90 day ad spend of $1000+, $50 exam fee, and the 100 question 1.5 hour exam.
I would like some feedback from any users that have experience in this program.

Should I Have Used .co.uk? I recently setup a .com domain and the site has been operational for about a month now (Dancing Lessons -). The site is for my sister and is related to dancing lessons, tutorials, videos etc. The initial target audience will be based in the UK, but long term she might use her contacts to expand outside of the uk. Therefore I set the site up as a .com, partly so that the site "feels" more global.
