Domain Name Change And 301 Redirect
A company I work for is currently working on a major re-branding exercise which will see all of their sites take on a common look and feel. They are considering completely redeveloping the site, getbiz, and are toying with the idea of changing the domain name. The site does not boast any major search engine positions, but is a PR3 site which is at least something, and also has quite a large number of links.

Nofollow On Image Links
I've asked a similar questions before but the subject has come up again and I'm still debating the issue. Question: Should you add "nofollow" to images that link when the text link equivalent is next to them? The theory being that this will place more weight on the keyword in the text link. Any thoughts?

Google the Juggler
I have been observing a quite strange phenomenon on Google in the recent few months. Google results sometimes goes into spin, and it starts to display ranking data 3-4 months old. Most of the new webmasters get confused over this issue and post messages on forum reporting fluctuation in rankings.

Articles Are Not Duplicate Content
I've seen a lot of people post on forums about duplicate content and I disagree with the information being posted. I've got a blog about lawn mowers and since I know nothing about lawnmowers I went to some free article sites and got free information and stuck on my blog.

Strange Ranking Results
I've been checking search engine rankings with an online tool and received some results I can't explain, but wish to understand. For example the website, using the keywords 'education supplies uk', gets the following results: Google: #2. Yahoo! Search: No - Not in top 50. MSN: No - Not in top 50. AOL: #2.

Need Help Making A Website
First, I know the very BASICS of web programming, having only completed a couple programming courses. I am looking to make a website that I'm about to describe and if this is in the wrong place, I apologize. I need a website that allows the user to sign in with an ID (which would have no password and be given to them through another source) and will take that ID and place it in a link.

Link Building When You've Run Out Of Ideas?
I have reached a bit of a wall with my site. Any link building that Ive done so far has been accomplished by making friends with like minded webmasters and submitting the site to directories. Now the "weight" behind directory links has dropped and i have forgotten about this method of link building completely.

Real People Don't Have Time for Social Media
I found this thought provoking article today. I have mentioned it before: Social networking can lobby a site to the top. It takes time. The concept of optimality and the 20/80 rule is well known to economists. Let's be honest here: we're all a bunch of social media addicts.

(PHP) HTML Entities In Emails
I'm using values entered in a form to send an email using the mail() function. When the form is posted, I apply the htmlspecialchars() function to the values. The problem comes when I send the email: The HTML entities don't get translated in the email.

I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the flash on Targets site Welcome to Target. I have seen this on other websites as well. It scrolls thru 3 different pictures with the pause button to the right. If anyone knows how or where I can implement this to my own site I would appreciate it.

I've few questions on press release distribution. How good it be to go for press release distribution to generate traffic for my website? I've made a list of 50 free press release publication websites. If I submit there it will be published in their sites. But I want to target for a coverage in popular news medias across different states in US. I'm ready to pay for it.

UK or USA Directories... Does it matter?
I am trying to get my site indexed well in the Google UK searches. I am looking to submit articles to some directories to try and help this but have a question. Would it be better to submit to a directory based in the USA which has a good PR and lots of backlinks or, a directory in the UK which has half the PR and backlinks of the US site?

Update A Site While Minimizing Downtime?
The web team at my company has been and is continuing to work on revising our website. The revision is going to be a major one and as such, we aren't really able to update/revise the site in bits and pieces. We are creating the new site using CSS: we plan on completing all the changes and then will upload all the pages and revisions at once.

Forum Pages Aren't Being Found

Link Building vs Google Adwords
I recently took on a new client which had 2 sites: a van hire site (van hire Cardiff) and a van sales site (new van sales). After redesigning and redeveloping the sites, the hire site went from page 8 to page 2 in Google for their preferred keyword phrase and the sales site went from page 25 to page 7. The van sales site is a more competitive market as it is nationwide.

Do We Need SEO Standards?
Bruceclay.com - We Do Need SEO Standards. We Don't Need SEO Standards!. I would have to disagree with Lisa and agree with Jill on this one. 1. There are too many ways of skinning the SEO cat. 2. We can’t even agree on the definition of search engine optimization.
