Is PR still relevant?
Over the past 12 months or so I've entered into my fair share of debates on this topic. Primarily with those who are not directly connected to an SEO business, but who do perform SEO work on their own commercial web sites.

Benefits of Microsites?
We were recently commissioned to design and set up three microsites at short notice - primarily to gain some footing in rankings and to drum up some interest in the destinations before we tackle the larger project of complete sites later in the year.

Project Management for Web Designer?
I am looking for suggestions on project management software. I'd prefer to keep my data in house vs. hosting on off site. If it is set up specifically for web designers or something similar that's even better.

Forwarded domain site submission
As an experiment, I forwarded one of my parked domain names (insurance-claim-help.com) to uclaim.com using Godaddy Domain Manager on January 9, 2008. I did a 301 Permanent redirect. I also submitted the forwarded domain name to Google at the same time. Its now January 28, 2008.

Google Analytics: Zero-Second Issue
My client's web site has embedded JavaScript (Google Analytics) for all web pages. For last 2-3 months, there are a handful number of zero-second visits to the site, which has come to our notice (as per Google Analytics Report).

XPS - Cross Printer Scripting Exploit
As you may be aware, a vulnerability was reported last week that would allow a malicious or attacked web site to print to printers on a victim's network. The exploit specifically targets printers that can be accessed over the local area network of the victim computer.

Strange Scraper Sites - Good or Bad?
I have noted a lot of hits coming from a set of sites that are surely scripted scraper sites. I am not sure what to do or if they are good or bad or even if there is anything that can or should be done. So, help?

Keeping linked pages with 301 redirects
I have a pretty big site with a lot of html and PHP pages including a WordPress blog with over 300 entries. I plan on copying the entire site to a new domain name and keeping the same suffix structure. So, the page www.oldsite.com/subject.html would now be www.newsite.com/subject.html and www.oldsite.com/blog/article123/ would now be www.newsite.com/blog/article123/.

My sites at restored-classics.com and restored-classic.com have gone missing. On my console I have this message. Important Service Notice. This notice describes an important change to your account.

Not impressed by Yahoo
I have made this post as a warning to other website owners to beware the Yahoo directory. I submitted a site to them last May and paid the $299 review fee. Yahoo say the site will be reviewed within days, and an e-mail will explain reasons for non-inclusion if site is not accepted.

Domain Name vs Content
I asked in a different thread if a domain name that started with the word 'The' could ever be ranked number one if someone searched that particular domain name. I asked this due to the word 'the' is a stop word and is dropped from the Google search.

Google URL Removal Still Pending
I submitted 63 URLs for removal in Webmaster tool. To block a page from Google bot, one of the following things should be done as per Google:

Searching Keywords SQL
I have some SQL query questions I need to ask. I know maybe this is quite easy for others but I really can't figure out how to query this thing I want. Since I am quite poor in database SQL. First, user can insert a set of string keywords to search...

The SEO pie!
Here's an interesting idea! If we break the SEO process down in percentiles, what percentage do you think each SEO aspects occupies, with 100% being a perfectly optimized site? Obviously this is going to change between search engines so let's stick to the big 3.

Web Page disappeared from Google
I want to thank you in advance for responding to this, I truly appreciate it. I just want to mention that I am not a professional programmer and I designed this web page in Dreamweaver. If you do respond please do so in the simplest terms possible.

I stopped Buying Paid Links - Now What?
I have been spending about $89 a month for paid links from a relevant forum, articles, and more websites. They are clearly marked as paid ads and the guy just got hammered by Google to PR3's and 2's (1/2 his PR was taken away).

Plagiarism & Duplicate Content
Ok, so you know you're doing ok when people start copying your stuff. I'd like to ask a question, well a few actually. Somebody copied EXACTLY the layout of a seo site I just built, the functionality, and the link structure including ALL the keyword researched anchor text in the internal linking. The same for the keyword researched page titles substituting only their clients name for mine in them. (Their client is the main competitor of my own client's newish site I recently built.) I can tell it was actually copied using the cut and paste method, and my hyperlinks then just replaced with theirs.

Flash for a big screen TV
We have a stand at a major exhibition and my company wants to run a 3-minute demo on a 42" TV continually through the day. The idea is to use a combination of flash and video - problem being I'm not very experienced in flash and video!

Does the A1 name work as marketing?
I see many companies that called A1something (something =plumbing, car repairs, flower delivery....) and have the same domain name. This was because in the past year if you were in the Yellow page or any directories, you'll be ranked on top of it as alphabetic and numerical (A1) is first to be displayed. Also A1 is like saying Top, best, high ranked....
