WebProWorld Members,

Have you heard about the Homeless Hotspots during SXSW?

If not, take a look at this WebProNews article.

There has been a lot of argument over the topic, whether it was a good thing or degrading towards the homeless people.

What do you think?

Is Google Able To Track Me?

Is Google Able To Track Me?
I like to check how my site is ranking for various terms in google, but I want to see what other people see (accounting for localized search) and not have my results "personalized".

I am familiar with google personalized search and know if you're logged into google or if you allow cookies that google can "personalize" your results and what you see is influence by your past searches and clicks (and most of our sites do much better on our own personalized searches!). Anyway, I turned off cookies and cleared my cache, but I think google is still giving me somewhat biased results.

I then figured they might be keeping track of my ip and personalizing my results based on my ip.

So I went online and found a proxy and searched through that, but I swear it seems like they still know its me and they are giving results based on my past searches and clicks.

Google Will Pay For Your .CA Domain

If you're Canadian and would like a free .ca domain registration with 12 months of free hosting to build your website checkout Gybo.ca.

Basically after 60 days you're free to do whatever you want with your domain - you can move it to another host from where it will be hosted after you sign up - Yola.com.

What do you all think? Would you sign up for this? I already use a reliable registrar and host so I wouldn't be moving anywhere but if I didn't I think I'd definitely give this a try.

Other
Cookies, help me to understand

Since the 25th of May 2011 the European Union changed the law on cookies.

See ICO website: http://www.ico.gov.uk/for_organisati...e/cookies.aspx

Since most hosting providers are setting up the cookies how do I make sure my cookies comply? Until the law change the preference was opt out. Now it is opt in. In other words the cookie should ask for permission to enter your computer. Since we plan to establish website for European interest, this is something we need to know. Advice appreciated. Thank you.
