WebProWorld Members,

Is Internet privacy a thing of the past? Seems so anyways.

Working in the Internet field, I have an understanding of how it works. Everything you do online can be and is tracked. And nothing is ever fully deleted.

For those who don't work in this industry however, this is news.

More and more people are catching on though. I even saw where a mainstream news show, 60 Minutes, covered Google's new privacy policy.

What do you think about being constantly tracked on the web? Is it scary enough to make you stop using the Internet?

Problems with old pages.

Problems with old pages.
I run a new Joomla site and had added a SEF plugin to improve my pages in Google, however I found that it had a conflict with my main component and had to turn it off. Hence doing this the url of my pages changed, and whilst I have redirected many of them there are some that I just dont know what the pages were for. I know that I will just have to wait for Google to drop the pages but I am concerned that there are pages that are showing a 500 response and that will be damaging where I stand with Google.

Does anyone have any ideas other than redirecting. The pages had been re-named by the SEF plugin and many of them are the pages for the main component and now that the pages have changed to the normal Joomla search engine friendly pages I or the component designer do not know what the pages were for so they could be redirected. Hope that made sense?

Also does anyone know how long it will take for google to drop the old pages, and I get a better result on my webmaster tools pages not found.

360 vs mouse-over product images

We're just beginning a make over of our e-commerce site and would like some feedback on best practices for displaying product images. We're a healthcare site with over 150 products ranging from small pads to larger items like walking casts. In our research we're finding four basic methods that e-commerce sites serve images; 1. Flat photo (single or multiple), 2. 360 display of a product, 3. mouse-over and 4. video.

Where we're stumped is choosing between 360 and mouse over. Here's some examples;

Zappos does a bit of a hybrid here - click on larger image and additional views - http://www.zappos.com/the-north-face...ame=zap_hp_gen

Verizon does a pretty classic 360 view here - http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/s...edPhoneId=5845

And Coldwater Creek does a great mouse-over here - http://www.coldwatercreek.com/produc...stsellers.aspx

We're absolutely down for video but we're torn with 360 vs mouse-over. Any feedback?
