WebProWorld Members,

Every Friday I get the George Jones' song Finally Friday stuck in my head. You know the one...

...Cause It's finally Friday, I'm free again
I got my motor running for a wild weekend
It's finally Friday, i'm outta control
forget the workin blues and let the good times roll...

Unfortunately this weekend and for what seems like the next couple months, I will be attending bridal showers and weddings (wait, did I say unfortunately? I mean, I can't wait! ), so that's what I will be doing. Hope you all have some great weekends planned and hopefully the weather is good wherever you are!

Happy Friday!

Bounce Rate Concerns

  Bounce Rate Concerns
I'm using Google Analytics to investigate a huge jump in visits to a website, and can't understand how the bounce rate is calculated. It doesn't seem to make any sense.

Wikipedia provides this definition and calculation:

Definition: The percentage of visitors who enter the site and "bounce" (leave the site) rather than continue viewing other pages within the same site.

Calculation: Bounce rate = total number of visits viewing only one page / total number of visits.

So far, so good.

Russian PPC and Yandex

I was wondering if there is anyone out there with experience in running Russian PPC campaigns. I have been asked to setup a PPC campaign to target russian and while we can sort the google and facebook side of it and do the translations ok, the main area we need to address if Yandex as this is the main referring source for Russian traffic.

Has anyone used Yandex before, if so how does PPC work on it? Is it display advertising (similar to adsense) or text ads (similar to Adwords - although there doesn't seem to be any adverts shown on the search result pages). Keyword budget estimations aren't turning up much data only for top level generic terms or category specific selections.

Alt Tag Limitations When it Comes to Displaying an Image That Reads as Text

I know alt tag questions have been asked before but I wanted see if anyone knew the specifics of what can and cannot be accomplished with the alt tag and to see if I have any other viable options.

I've got a website that combines text with videos, audio and pictures to tell a story. But the text is not built into the text of the web page, it is displayed as a chunk of words in a specific font inside a few different images. This gives all of the stories and text a personalized feel but obviously this limits what gets cataloged by search engines.

Viral Content Lessons from

Over the last year, a website called The Oatmeal has completely blown up. It is a collection of comics, quizzes, and stories and is somewhat similar to the comedy found on the Cheezburger Network's sites.
