WebProWorld Members,
We made it to another Friday. Everyone is happy about that right? Unfortunately, I need to get some unpacking and organizing done this weekend, which of course isn't fun. But, I do get to spend a lot of time with my niece tonight so I am pretty happy about that. Hope you have good weekend! :)
Our featured post today comes from jme248. He says, he is keeping his domain name, but has redesigned the site. He will be making it live shortly and wants to keep his standing in Google for all the pages. With the same domain name being used, would a 301 redirect be able to transfer each specific page to the new version of that page, with a different URL but within the same domain? Or is there any other method that would work? Click here!
As for the remaining posts, the first needs help with a php expression. The second has questions about SEO and posting a video on YouTube. The third wonders about your middle initial in your name and the SEO purposes of leaving it or dropping it.

Same Domain, New Page URLS
Basically I am keeping my domain name, but have redesigned the site having it hosted on a local server using Dot Net Nuke. I'm going to be making it live shortly with the web host, and want to keep my standing in Google for all the pages.
With the same domain name being used, would a 301 direct be able to transfer each specific page to the new version of that page, with a different URL but within the same domain? Or is there any other method that would work?
I would post a sample URL to demonstrate more clearly what I mean, but they are SPAM blocking me from posting anything containing a web address.

Web Programming Discussion Forum PHP Regular Expression To Get Everything Before A Certain Character?
For instance, I have the following string:
table:column
I need to get "table" as the result of the php regular expression.
So, I need everything before the ":" symbol
After that regular expression is performed, I would also like to get everything after the ":" symbol, or "column" as well.

Search Engine Optimization Forum John A. Lawyer v. John Lawyer
I do a lot of tech work within the legal community -- please hold off on your lawyer jokes for now. Yes, they pay me and, no, they don't look to swindle me on my bills.
In the legal community, it is somewhat customary for an attorney to list their name with the inclusion of their middle initial. For example: John Lawyer will list his name as "John A. Lawyer" in all of his publications, including his website. As John becomes known throughout the community, people typically refer to him as "John Lawyer". I would assume that holds true for searches as well -- people are more likely to search "John Lawyer" than "John A. Lawyer".
For the purposes of search engine optimization, would you suggest dropping the middle initial within the title and h1 tags? I want to get as good of placement as possible for the main name and I think the middle initial is holding us back.
