WebProWorld Members,
How was everyone's weekend? Mine was pretty good. Spent time with my niece and went to a Super Bowl party of course. The ice is finally melting here. Although a lot of people are still without power, and/or water. Plus, a lot of people in my town and others have to conserve and boil water right now. That meant I couldn't get my sweet tea from McDonalds so I wasn't happy about that. :/ But, it's all getting better slowly and I hope that's the end of bad weather for the season. Of course, the groundhog saw his shadow today which means six more weeks of winter, although I'm pretty sure we would have six more weeks anyways. Well on we go!
Our featured post today comes from lizaboos. She needs some beginner info on Google Analytics. She wants some help on where to find the best "101" on the service. Liza is looking for the bare basics - i.e. what is a "bounce"? She says any guidance is appreciated. Click here!
As for the remaining posts, the first discusses differences between a .Net platform and a LAMP platform. The second has some questions about buying a second server on a different host. The third has image problems in IE 6.

Google Analytics 101?
I have a few questions/concerns and I know that the great minds on this forum might be able to help.
I am so terribly wet behind the ears when it comes to Google Analytics. I hear that it's one of the most user friendly analytics out there, but still feel like it is a bit beyond me.
Is there a resource where I can find a basic "101" on the service? I'm looking for the bare basics - i.e. what is a "bounce"? Basically, the kinds of questions that tech gurus laugh at, but that non-tech gurus (like me) need 5th-grade level answers for.
Any guidance is appreciated. Thank you!

Web Programming Discussion Forum LAMP or .NET
I will admit... I have largely ignored technologies like Java in the past simply because the LAMP platform has proved to be a much larger user base and it appears to be the dominating technology in use on the web.
I find it rather difficult to understand the major differences from a practical standpoint between a .Net platform or a LAMP platform. Can the two even be directly compared?
My understanding is that microsoft actively pushes certification courses which may lead many people looking for a career in that field to take the route which may give them something which looks good on a resume. I have also leafed over these books and my premature conclusion is that the frameworks or technologies in use actually prohibit the user from learning anything useful all while restricting them to a less flexible framework which is said to have issues scaling (not that I myself have begun to worry too much about these issues yet). My practical reasoning would be that the framework does not encourage users to get down to the nitty gritty and actually learn the technologies in use but rather encourages the programmer to make use of re-usable objects which by no means are optimized for every scenario at the benefit of rapid development.

IT Discussion Forum 2 Servers - 1 cPanel - Load Balancing
I currently have a dedicated server, with cpanel, and recently had a network outage, resulting in the ecommerce site being down for several hours.
Not good for business...... So my question is, if i bought a second server with another host, how can i implement a fail safe system, where by
1. The primary server serves the shop 24/7
2. In the event of a server crash or network failure, i can switch to the secondary server
3. Can i use 1 cpanel to do this, or do i need 2?
4. What software would you use to make the switch?
5. Are there any other better ways to do what i need?

Web Programming Discussion Forum Trouble With PNG and CSS in IE6
Having trouble with one omy png images not displaying in IE6 (what else??).
All other images on page work but not the one in the header. I have even tried swapping images - still nothing.
If I make up a blank test page with images on it - works so conditiona code is ok.
If I enclose in same div as in page - it works ok.
But when whole page is put together it disappears - very frustrating.
Any one shed light on this?
