Default Search tips for MSN

Most of the tips on search engines address google and sometimes google but I hear very little about MSN. It feels as if the freelancer and the small businesses ignore it eithre because it is just too corporate or simply irrelevant.

Are there any tricks or tips for getting the prime spots on MSN or is it just too full of big corporations to be worth the effort?

MSN is an SEO low hanging fruit; Fairly easy to get good rankings with almost any trick you would effectively use on others. I had a joke that if I wanted my rankings in Live Search to be any higher, they would have to redirect the user directly to my site and not even bother with a results page.

Of course, despite the high rankings, the number of visitors from msn was pretty low. Luckily, they use the same ranking for Bing.com and have been advertising the heck out of it, so now the rankings are starting to pay off.

If you agree that (1) Bing actually produces good or even better-than-Google results and (2) it's susceptible to easy tricks, it means that Bing is kind of flanking Google. Google sets the standard, so no one tries the easy tricks b/c Google will penalize them. But the algorithms that made the easy tricks appealing is actually really useful (unless it gets spammed, which is why Google dropped them). Now folks don't use those tricks as much b/c of Google, and Bing reaps the rewards.

Bing considers even the new sites. So you don't need to follow special guidelines to rank at BING.
