Hi Friends
I just want to ask one t hing how SEO and other internet marketing services will be effected if MSN Purchases the yahoo. ?????? |
|
||||
|
definitely a yes because if MSN and Yahoo merge as one, we can't tell how their algorithm will go and how can we able to rank our keywords in their SE.

The thought horrifies me.
I have an email from about the only person at MSN who bothers to reply to emails admitting that they made a glorious screw up last October with their algorithm change and that it will take until late March (end of Spring was what he actually said) to get everything rectified properly. I had a similar issue with Google and the same site and in this case it turned out the problem was a canonical issue but was resolved with getting back into the SERPS in 5 days! As far as the same site is concerned Yahoo have me listed at a couple of No 1 slots, Google have me in a few Top 10 slots and MSN still refuse to acknowledge we exist. As I said, whilst they only control about 5% of the market then they incompetence is manageable but if they then take this with them to another SE then we are all in trouble. |

The thing that people neglect when considering SEO for Yahoo and MSN is that together it represents a 30% market that is (presumablyt) easier to optimise for than Google. There is a good article which speculates some of the SEO possibilities of this take-over and the differences between Yahoo, MSN and Google.

Dunno about that but if they do purchase Yahoo, then I guess the MSN Search Discussion Forum on WPW will merge with the Yahoo one ... and we don't want that to happen!! Bad Microsoft!

The "window of opportunity" closed on 4/26 for Yahoo! to accept Microsoft's $44.6 billion uninvited offer. There are speculations on what may happen next. Reports indicate that either Microsoft Ballmer will walk away from the deal or that he will move forward and prepare for a hostile takeover. As for how SEO and other Internet marketing services will be effected, we will all have to wait to see what happens...

Microsoft walked away from the deal today.
Champagne at Google no doubt. |

An official end to a three-month drama... Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO had increased the bid to $33 per share or roughly $5 billion, but Yahoo! held firm reportedly wanting $37. The Microsoft press release states that the Yahoo! - Google proposed advertising deal appears to have influenced the Microsoft decision. Ballmer wrote, "In our view, such an arrangement with the dominant search provider would make an acquisition of Yahoo! undesirable to us for a number of reasons..." He formerly withdrew the proposal to acquire Yahoo! and closes by restating, "But, clearly a deal is not to be".
