live vs msn
Hi!
I now see different results on live.com and msn.com. did anyone notice the same?
and what does it mean? will msn show the same results soon? it just take time for msn to show the results as live shows it?

Re: live vs msn
I did two searches on live and msn.com, looking for tickets for the local football team, and compared the results pages. For both searches on both engines, the results were identical including several of the ads, the URLs were identical except one had msn and the other had live, and the page source code was identical except for an additional link on the MSN version that was not on the live version.
MSN Test: Live Search: eagles tickets
Live Test: Live Search: eagles tickets
Is there an example you could show of the differing search results for testing?

Re: live vs msn
you may search for example for "generic viagra", "viagra", "online casino"
maybe it also depends on your location, from which country you are searching from?
also for your "eagles tickets" search I see different results on msn and live

Re: live vs msn
I am searching in the United States, using search.live.com and search.msn.com. I tried with the three terms that you mentioned, and other than the ads, all the results I got were the same between the two.

Here's a reply from 'msndude' via WMW:
"I think, but the reason for the difference is that the live.com beta has the adult content filter set to "strict," while search.msn.com uses the moderate setting. Once the beta actually offers a control to let users change the setting, it will produce results identical to search.msn.com. That should be soon. But it really is the same search engine behind both of them."

Hope that answers your question,

MSN is for entertainment, where live is aimed at search.

My bolding.
Only I that am confused or is the reason that I don't use msn search so I do not know how to use it?
Is it 4, 3, 2, or 1 SE?

Re: live vs msn
Its a branding thing. Microsoft uses one search engine across all of their platforms, but everything else in those two domains is aimed toward different markets. MSN is the general home consumer market, where live is the new communication and collaboration side. However, my understanding is that eventually the two will be merged into live and msn will go away.
