Default Microsoft climbs up on a Soapbox

Video sharing comes to Microsoft, in a limited beta version anyway. They will integrate Soapbox with Messenger and Live Spaces, and I'll guess they will have two or three branded content channels when it opens to the public.

Default Hi David

Hi David,
I'd love to see an investigative review for my company. We are already sharing video. With Video IM (That does not "buffer" constantly) Video email-as easy as sending an email. Live Broadcasting-Just as simple as above. And storage of all digital formats that are on the market today.
I'm not "blatantly" advertising. I would really love to see a review from you.
I'll be looking forward to more video news through WebProNews.
Thankyou,
Angela

Default Could have called it Sandbox?

They should have called it Sandbox -- but then that reminds me of kitty litter. I think sites like http://www.flixya.com/ [flixya.com] or http://www.revver.com/ [revver.com] make sense. I'm curious why the beta release from Soapbox is in 2007? How much time do you need? ;) It's like they just can't play in the same sand box without being the bully..

I think the streaming video arena is set to become the next huge growth industry.
With broadband becoming more accessible, we will continue to see a steady increase in the use of this technology over the next 2-5 years.
I have posted an article giving 11 good reasons why businesses will benefit from using streaming video in their advertising campaigns at

I believe there will be a marked difference in paid and free services - just as there is with email.
My opinion of what Microsoft has offered is that it it will have to be paid for somehow - most likely advertising.
I would be interested to find out if they have cross platform compatibility, their picture quality, service and if they actually reward users for referring others as Helloworld does.
I personally use the Helloworld products and find these to be far superior to Microsoft's offerings (the truth is always you get what you pay for).

I'd guess negotiations for licenses for copyrighted content, like the Warner/YouTube agreement, have to be hammered out. MS would also need to develop or acquire a way to detect when videos use copyrighted material for comapnies that won't license content as Warner has.
