Default MSN Update

Hi All,

- when is the next MSN and Yahoo update?
- Where can i find this information?
- what is the difference between MSN/Yahoo update and the spiders crawling my pages?

probably all these are silly questions... but as you can see from the nickname:)

thanks

T

no one knows when the next updates are, sometimes they produce a weather report (i dont know the url's were you can find them of hand) which give us a brief warning.

The 3rd point i doesnt really make too much sense can you elaborate.

Yahoo has given out three weather report updates (June, July and August) in the past and promised one on every update released:

Sadly they have not delivered another weather report in months.

MSN Search Blog is here:

http://blogs.msdn.com/msnsearch/

but not much about updates here.

Default MSN and Yahoo updates

I guess because less of the SEO community spends time trying to decode the Yahoo and MSN algorithms these organisations feel less pressured to update. Their results therefore tend to be quite stable.

I've never seen anything like Jagger.

Incredi, you ever figure out the abuse of the last Yahoo "update" (used lightly)?

I know you had mention scraper sites damaging through dup content, and the last yahoo mess was an awful update for the overall quality.

I still dont know what pattern the madness had.

Unfortunately they never gave to much feedback on the issue. I contacted them many time and they gave me the same "cookie cutter" responses.

After looking through many client and non-client examples I am down to the fact that some bad interlinking and duplicate content on some websites could have caused the demotion in some situations. It is being fixed now and if these particular websites get back in then I will know it is because of that.

It still doesn't get away from the fact that scrapped content is still showing up where real websites should be.

I am hoping for another "weather update", but it looks like they are updating here and there now like Google does.

I am not seeing any major alog update for either. My point was I am hoping they would at least announce one if one is released similar to how Google is doing with Matt Cutts.

Yes, finally getting Y! love. Was #6 for gift baskets but now #13. #2 for christmas terms though. Funny both Google and Yahoo starting ranking right about the same time, after 10 months waiting.
