One of the most common problems in website development is what web marketing experts have with web designers. In many ocassions, what is useful to obtain a nice Google crawling is not good for a correct website usability.
In my case, I prefer to mix a website development in usability and user's experience along with
SEO, see my reasons below:
* Web Marketing, PPC,
SEO, etc has an expiration date in a way or another, a website usability is useful as long as the owner wants to keep with its design.
* Improving a website's usability brings a more effective web marketing campaign
* It is more profitable (time and money) to increase sales results improving the website's usability
Websites can make money without focusing all efforts in Search Engines. It is just a matter of achieve fidelity levels in the customers. I think of different ideas:
*
Questionaire applications: it is simple, just asking the users ( customers, possible customers, etc) what they want, I ask my clients different questions about what they want and how they want it often. That way I am able to send them news, articles, or offers what they want.
*
Newsletters and Email Marketing: Using Newsletters, Email Marketing and RSS Feeds help to keep a regular interaction with the clients
*
Social Network Tools: Twitter, Facebook, Digg, Myspace, etc
* Promotional Codes ( Affiliate Sites)
* Inserting the website URL in signatures, articles, etc
Well.. right now I can't think of more, It would be nice to read your comments
