Default Text message marketing

Here recently I have been receiving more and more spam / advertisements through faxes and text messages and would like to know does anyone here use either one of these methods to advertise their site and what response do you get? The text messages just started about 2 weeks ago and from researching this a little what I can find is they are sent out in blocks of numbers at a time in a sequence like 123-456-7890 - 123-456-9999. Has anyone used a service like this? I myself do most of my advertising through emails and magazines. I cannot imagine this type of marketing to be worthwhile unless you run alot of ads or such on your site, but never having done it I may be wrong.

Text messaging can be a powerful form of marketing, but it must be used wisely.

I use the analogy that an unwanted email is like someone knowing on your door at home, while a text message is like someone coming into your house and tapping you on the shoulder.

Very intrusive if unwelcome.

Text message DOES NOT work for the shotgun approach.

Text messaging DOES work when you are dealing with a focused list (opt-in of course) to whom you can send time sensitive offers, or other material that provides value for the reader.

Text messages should be used to drive traffic in-store or to a website (in this case the MOBILE version) so people have an imperative to take action and a way to do it.

I would not waste money of generic texts to a rental list. Build your own and provide good content and people will respond accordingly.

AU and UK readers may wish to PM me if they want to explore services (not USA sorry).

Sometimes I get advertisement from my cellphone but I just ignore it because I think it's a scam.
