Default Suggestions for promoting my site, PLEASE

I have a website that sells gift products. I'm not getting many visitors, let alone any orders. What can I do to improve my site? I am on a slim budget, as I have been unemployed for the last eight months. Some ideas would be nice. My site is located at http://<a href="http://www.lisaleesg...lease help me!

Default META META META

look at your competitors meta tags. Compare them to your own. You have no description or keywords. Keep your title to 78 characters. Description to 1 or 2 sentences. Keywords up to 20 . Make sure your title had your main keyphrase. It must be in your description and keywords. dont abuse unless you want to be greeked by google. questions??

learn from your competition then adjust accordingly

Well, on top of what schmeetz said...

I dunno...
Too many problems to list, really
The cart you're using, is plain and simply, brutal.
Your domain name resolves to another domain
It has some kind of funky page refresh
Are these actually your gifts or are you just an affiliate?

Lisa,

If you want a critique on website design, you can list it under the "Submit your site for review forum". I placed mine there, and received a wealth of information...

Anyway, there are tons of free ways to promote your site that will bring you tons of traffic. All you need to do is put forth some effort...

1) Linking- Do a search in Google for the term "Gifts" or "Gift Baskets". Request links from every single site that comes up.

2) Contests- Once a month give away one of your items. Every person who joins your mailing list is automatically entered into the contest. This helps two ways: 1-You have a list of people that agree to hear your product offering. 2-You can request a link from free stuff sites that list any businesses that contests or freebies.

3) Article writing- Create an article that discusses some aspect of shopping or customer relations. Basically, write about any topic that has some commonality to your store. Then submit it to every possible ezine or website that you can find. The best way to locate them is by going to a search engine and typing "submit your article" and "shopping" (or "submit article" and "shopping"). You will find a plethora of places were you can send your article.

Anyway, these are the three best promotional methods that I use to bring in about 2000 hits and 2-3 orders each day. The good thing is the more I work at it, the better my stastics will improve. You might want to check out http://www.promotionworld.com
This is one of the best places to find great marketing tips....I only wish I found it a year ago.

Well, good luck!

Scott
