YouTube to get hits
I own a casino gambling site which is difficult to promote because the keywords (roulette, UK online casinos etc) are very popular and therefore expensive in Adwords etc
I’ve noticed some You-tube videos showing in search result that are basically ads for competitor sites. My question is how can you use Youtube to promote your site? Has anyone tried, and is it effective?

Re: YouTube to get hits
i did the same thing for a few of my sites, i have a maid site which is a directory and an actual maid service and on the home page, i added a youtube video which shows a sexy shirtless male window "cleaner".
Basically, in my opinion mostly women are finding my site and when they see the video, they surely enjoy the little diddy and they stay on my site and usually browse around a bit more, find their city and a maid service there or request a quote. either way my bounce rate is quite low and I'm sure google can tell if the video has anything at all to do with the content on the site.
im not sure if it helps in the rankings but i believe it does...

Re: YouTube to get hits
oh ya, i have another site, my dating site (signature) and on that home page I have a video as well, it's funny and again it keeps people on the site...just make sure you don't add the autoplay=1 parameter to your video code cause I think if the video loads as the page loads the user might get bothered and close the window...some ppl search from work and don't want a loud video playing the second they get on the page...

Re: YouTube to get hits
Well why not create some helpful "How To" videos on all the different casino games?

Re: YouTube to get hits
I have done some SEO for a motel in my area. I noticed in Google search results that a competitor had a YouTube video of their rooms and facilities. The video was actually coming up in search results ahead of most other motels in the area. The video wasn't even on the motel site. It was like a commercial on TV, but it did very well in search results because of the keywords they used on YouTube.

Re: YouTube to get hits
Many are suckered into thinking Youtube will send you loads of traffic because they have so many eye balls.
The fact is you have to get you video seen amongst millions of others.
Perhaps a gambling strategy or how to beat the casino video might attract some viewers but you still have to get the viewers attention and present them with a unique offer.
You should check out LeadsByVideo dot com. Go to the Why It works section, it explains clearly what does and doesn't work. They can also make the video for you.

Re: YouTube to get hits
indeed....i've had decent luck w/ you tube videos for my tourism site about the <a href="http://www.beachconnection.net">Oregon coast</a>. Three have actually caught on quite a bit....not as viral as i'd hoped. But about 3,000 views in ten months ain't bad.
In each, I put the name of our site in the text in the video at the beginning and end....pointing out it is a video piece from our site. That's something that's actually simply the professional way to do it....since part of what we provide is tourism news. But there are obvious publicity/branding benefits. Then i also put the url in the description on that page. I've noticed a few clicks from that...though nothing major.
If i could get a video that went major viral, I would see much better results. But in the end, it has been serving it's purpose well and it's an aspect we will continue to chase.

Re: YouTube to get hits
I am surprised at how many views I get on the youtube and it has a link to my site so I would have to think that I am at a min getting a shot at having them visit my cheap hotel guesthouses & accomodations in Asia site from the profile.

Re: YouTube to get hits
you can use Youtube to create multiple inbound links to your site. It allows you to create a link for your profile (which should contain keywords regarding your business) and also create links within the description of any videos you post. As google owns youtube this is a good way of upping your google respectability. create many short movies describing your site

Re: YouTube to get hits
I thought those were "no follow" links. If so, they probably don't do doodily to help you with Google, Yahoo or MSN.

Re: YouTube to get hits
My experience with video promotion using Youtube has been incredible it generated literally 1000's of vistors, can generate huge views in the SERP and CT's to a site. Video will continue to grow on the net as critical masse has been reached by high speed penetration. High Speed is more the norm then the exception today in most of NA.

Re: YouTube to get hits
Its amazing that so many people have found it successful. I think it is an under-rated way of promoting a site. Why dont the SEO companies offer video creation services?
Thanks for all the good advice. Now to put them to work...

Re: YouTube to get hits
I have two videos so far that I have uploaded to tubemogul (you upload your video once and it gets distributed and tracked on many video sites not just youtube) and it does get some hits, but it is recent and its not a casino video. Its worth a try and its hands free traffic.

Re: YouTube to get hits
I've created a few videos for youtube, and I think unless you manage to create an extremely entertaining video or whatever it kind of takes a lot of work to get your video out there. My first one got very few views, but I was able to start building a profile on youtube and getting friends on there and networking and so when I put up my second video, although it wasn't anything better than the first, it had much better results. It is one of those things that as your network grows your videos will get more hits, and as you get more hits your network will grow more, and on the cycle goes.

Re: YouTube to get hits
It all depends on what you offer. I like to go out and record hurricanes, crazy race cars, and other high adrenaline stuff.. Then I through my websites in the mix and it works out good.
Poodles aren't high adrenaline lol, but there is some funny poodle videos too.
my channel for reference

You're missing the point about links, no follow or otherwise.
These links allow targeted users to immediately visit your site creating another valuable doorway. They allow you to create visitors direct from an arm of google to your site. Whether they count for serps nodal magnitude algos is irrelevent - they certainly help you build towards an authority site. If they do count then great!
Other benefits - immediate spidering, films listed very highly organically in the serps
As mentioned elsewhere in this string - rich media is the future - all comms technology is merging towards it
oh yeah there millions of people out there who watch poodle videos - would'nt mind the movie myself to sell pet insurance
Every night at around 9pm in a constant wave around the planet millions of bored TV users go 'you tubbing' - look at the spikes (and when people are online)
In the last year we have sent over 40000 new users from around the globe to our soccer directory authority site just by posting videos. Like link creating (network building) it becomes an exponential snowball
If you're half serious about SEO SEM etc - ignore you tube at your peril
One further point - you need to apply all the on and off page SEO to your youtube pages/site(s) as you would to your own pages/site(s)
YouTube - insuretec's Channel
YouTube - caravaninsurance's Channel

Re: YouTube to get hits
Risk, Amen! YouTube videos also are posted on other sites and guess what if your Video starts with Hi I'm Joe your .... tech with .... provides branding that isn't available anywhere else. It is the easiest for a merchant to kill in the Universal SERP by making targeted videos and setting them up nicely on YouTube. YouTube also has RSS subs/alerts that could be used in any "Social Algo" Google may come up with. These are all future customers that now get weekly alerts of new vids. To look at YouTube and just see a link is well... short sighted.

You can use something like TubeMogul.com - Online Video Distribution and Analytics as well to do the same.

Great advice. Anyone know how to create a video easily. Are there online services that do it?
