Default Press Releases

Hi Everyone,
I would like to get a real good disscussion going on about the value of press releases relevtive to SEO.

I recently submitted my first release using a press release distributor which cost a fair ammount. I haven't seen a increase in my traffic at all. So I'm wondering two things:

1. are press releases worth doing?
2. are press distributors worth the money to use? If so which one is the best value.

I really would like to know what everyone thinks about this SEO technique before I invest anymore capital.

Thanks,

Press releases do work. For SEO and for getting your name out to relevant people

How much did you pay?

Who did you use?

You need to have a media section on your site/s with the press releases archived for journalists to access and use. Also some images that they can use to illustrate the story.

There can be a problem with some press release firms.

Let's suppose I want to sell bird seed for pigeon breeders.

One press release firm says: "I can send your release out to 20,000 journalists/media outlets!"

Sounds good, doesn't it? Well, no, not really. It would be a waste of my money. How so? 19,999 of those journalists/media outlets do not care a fig for pigeons or their food. The 20,000th one who works for The Pigeon Fanciers World, I can just email the press release to him for the minimal cost of the email.

There are some free services. Now, pressbox - free press release distribution and news - press store - copywriting services can't be a BAD service. It must get a good response because PR firms are using it fairly heavily to get exposure for their clients. UK-based, though international users.

Response Source :: www.responsesource.com is a good service which is both professional and inexpensive to use. And you can target your releases to various sections of the media. Very handy. It is based in the UK, however.

Press releases can be a good source of publicity, traffic & SE.

The trick is to understand how to write an effective press release, and where to submit them for maximum exposure.

Is it worth doing as a marketing technique? Absolutely.

Press release and placing them with the right companies are an extremely important part of building seo these days. Sure, it costs a few bucks but some of the best places we've found for releases include PR.com and PRweb.com. Both charge a bit for their services but as they say you get what you pay for in anything!

Getting top rankings in the SERPS is what it's all about along with consistency. A lot of seo is plain old hard work and consistency. Most people won't make the effort to do all the hard work it takes to make a site successful. Check out our rankings with our older site to see what's going on and good luck to you building a winning business online!

Question Re: Press Releases

I submitted a press release to a ton of sites with nothing to show for it, but I've bought an ebook and am ready to try again.

For one thing I plan on using webwire ($20)

Press release is useful in terms of promotion but it doesn't affect SERP because you can't use keywords as anchor text on your Press Release.
