In the article the author is talking about the fact that if you talk someone up they are going to link to or talk about you. Another words if you blog about something someone has done or accomplished there is a good chance they are going to talk about you.

The author actually says that if you talk about 10 people you’ll find 10 people talking about you.

I thought it was a very good idea, now to find someone I can say something good about.

I think it's not much of a secret and in fact a lot of these basic marketing concepts translate easy to the online world. I am very generous with linking to sites I think my readers will be interested in and it has been returned tenfold.

I think online is where generosity really pays off, and not the kind where you only do something to get something back, but the genuine kind.

Make a blog post about all the great people in your niche and why you think they are cool and link to them and I promise that post or webpage will get links back. Not from everyone, but from enough to make it worth it. If you are passionate about your industry you will have no problem finding people to link to.

Yes I see this all of the time and especially in the SEO bubble. We talk about each other often and more than likely we all understand the value of linking to each other so it is only natural.
