Do You Run Contests??

Curious how some have come on running contests, on a smaller scale. Did it bring positive awareness of your brand? Were there specific sites you had promoted the contest, i.e. Digg, StumbleUpon, del.icio.us, Myspace, etc. Did you run into any legal issues?
