Re: selling items I do not have
I'll throw my 2 cents in Tubby...
Keep the bears themselves standard. You can always add more "bears" to the mix. Should make it easier to find a mfg. and keep the unit price down. Sorry I can't help you with a mfg.
Personalize them using clothing or accesories. The "heart" is one idea that could be changed around via velcro. Additional hearts sold separately.
A lot of the time, it's not the "base unit" itself that's the draw, it's all the other "goodies" you can get for it.
Here's a site worth a peek... Build-A-Bear Workshop-United States: Home Page

Re: selling items I do not have
Thanks Dave. I did not start the thing to make a profit, or really sell any bears. In truth I would quite happily just use the promotional effect, and hand the thing over to someone else.
I really started the whole thing because I was peeved with Webnauts 'blindness' He posted something in another forum that made one of his blind spots stand out . I felt the urge to give him a practical demonstration that People power outranked validation. . . That the simple use of his friends could get results and a a more 'ctabuc' use of search engines. not that ct is always correct, but he does employ a different perspective.
I have no idea if I will get more than three orders, but experience tells me It would need a lot of momentum to keep it rolling. Being In Australia, and way outback is a problem.
it would nice nice to hand the thing over
I shall take a peek at the build a bear site.
but I have imported badges from China before. . that was not complicated.
Personally I am inclined to tempt webmaster to blog about it. . sit back and wait until I have a 100 interests recorded.
check out what I can find about bears, etc.
But its fun! I appreciate your comments Dave, you are one the forums steadfast members. .

Re: selling items I do not have
Is there something I'm missing???
You tried to sell bears that you didn't have?
If you wanted to start a JV, I believe I could market the hell out of a little teddy bear...but I'm still not a 100% sure where this all started.

Re: selling items I do not have
Yes, It is a good promo product. I am thinking of selling some 'classic car' bears to go with with the webnaut bears.
But as yet I still do not have a bear supplier.

Re: selling items I do not have
I read through the links you had provided, and I'm still clueless. Maybe that's cause I'm just a dunce, but I think there's something missing from the puzzle.

I think it would be cheaper to get from China market.

Re: selling items I do not have
I did find I could get cloth logos made (any website logo) stick on with Velcro. for around 50c each.
It could be a multipurpose Webnaut Bear
Astronaut - Surfs the Astro
Cosmonaut - surfs the Cosmos
Webnaut - surfs the web
3000 teddy small teddy Bears about $3 - logo $0.50 -
Someone should do this . . .
logo for a Restored-classic WebnautBear - I think I could find a user that wanted one.
Some webmasters would like a Webnautbear to promote their site.
