This thread is for any viral marketing technqiues you happen to use or see on the web.

I have just started a quiz for one of my websites, so going to see how effective it is. Will let you know the results.

We are working on a bit of code at the moment that will display the weather for a particular city within a small window, and giving it away free.

Also, about to run a competition for a luxury item. You can only enter if you refer 5 people to the site. Will also let you know about this.

Here are a couple quick ideas:

1. Market your product through video/podcasts
2. Develop a free tool (ie: calculator, SEO, etc)
3. Create a contest

Refer a Friend programs also work, but I like to think of viral marketing as a combination of using your existing parnershps, and clients for testimonials and referrals. Then post, or utilize their raves on your website in creative attention grabbing sections or areas.

For good viral mareting examples (videos, animations, etc) I've found Kontraband.com, fatpie.com, etc to be very good. Very funny too.
